Ignition issues cost Wes Burton a finish at Texas.

Wes Burton traveled to Texas for the NASCAR Truck event on November 5th. With having only 1 truck, the team had to repair their truck that just 2 weeks ago competed at Martinsville Speedway and received major body damage during battle. Even though the Texas race situation was not ideal, it allowed the team to shake down the truck for the upcoming NASCAR Truck Series event at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Look for the team to return to the fight on Nov. 19th at the season finale.

Wes Burton brings it home 20th at Martinsville.

After a long struggle in practice and a qualifying lap that failed to meet expectations, Wes Burton and the GBM team fought for a solid 20th place finish.

NCMARC and UNC Charlotte team up with Wes Burton at Martinsville.

KANNAPOLIS, NC [Oct. 14th, 2010] – UNC Charlotte alumni Wes Burton will join forces with the North Carolina Motorsports & Automotive Research Center (NCMARC) and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Martinsville Speedway on Oct. 23rd. This event will be Burton’s first race back with the series since qualifying 21st for the May event at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Martinsville will also be the third series start for Green Burton Motorsports, which is a new team looking to build for the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.

UNC Charlotte is located within 5 miles of Charlotte Motor Speedway and within 50 miles of approximately 90% of NASCAR Sprint Cup teams. The Motorsports Program offers engineering courses pertaining to vital elements of auto racing such as road vehicle dynamics, motorsports instrumentation, aerodynamics, automotive powerplants, and more. Students can also gain hands-on experience in the newly renamed Alan D. Kulwicki Motorsports Laboratory where students can work with various forms of racecars. As a result, roughly 10% of all NASCAR engineers have graduated from UNC Charlotte. Potential students who are visiting the Charlotte area for the NASCAR events are encouraged to stop by UNC Charlotte and learn about the elaborate program.

Green Burton Motorsports Will Be In Action Again at Martinsville Speedway on Oct. 23rd.

Green Burton Motorsports and driver Wes Burton will return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Oct. 23rd at Martinsville Speedway. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this event starting as low as $2,000. Current sponsors will be announced soon.

GBM Goes LeMons Racing!

Members of the GBM racing team competed in the 24 Hours of LeMons (www.24hoursoflemons.com) event at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC on Sept. 25-26. 24 Hours of LeMons is a series where teams of up to 6 drivers compete in an endurance race made up of cars that do not exceed $500 in cost (not including safety equipment). The car of choice was a 1980 Chevrolet Monza. Even though the car completed less than 100 laps, everybody had a blast. Watch for the return of the Monza when the LeMons series returns to South Carolina in 2011.
